Merry Christmas!

We got a white Christmas! Yeah!
Merry Christmas! I can't believe it but I'm a day late! I was to busy on Christmas sledding and building a snowman, opening gifts (I got a guitar!!!), eating fondue, and just hanging out!

These are two really cute, must watch Christmas story videos from Ann Voscamp's blog! Click here to watch them! You'll have to scroll down for a while till you get to the part where it says "I can't count how many times Shalom(her daughter) has giggled over this...."(or something like that)

Mom's birthday!

And every day Mom! ♥ Happy Birthday!
Yummy cake! We had a delicious meal for mom's birthday that she made:). Stake, chicken, potatoes, salad! She got a new knife, watch, and a couple other small things!

New Sidetable!

My sister Erika got a new side table from Craigs list. She and my brother and dad put it together. These are some of the "progress pictures." It's so beautiful and matches her room well!

Thankful things!

Okay, I am really bad! I made this list for last friday and never posted it! I'm just combining it with this weeks list!

Thankful Things:

~Art Class

~Trying to be thankful for a LONG school week....At least it's going well. I say long because our coop semester has ended and a class I take had a Thanksgiving break and so I've been at home for a lot of my school.

~Our car reaching the 200,000 mile mark on the way home from our cousins (in Ohio) and we got donuts ahead of time to eat once it reached that exact point. Donuts are such a treat:) Even if our reason for them was a little weird...:)

~Snow!

~Finding out the name of our exchange student that is coming to our house for two weeks over Christmas...And seeing her picture!

~Chalk talk

~Field trip to Harrison house for Christmas caroling then making graham cracker houses.

~Cousins:)

~Little children that make you laugh with all the funny things they say and do:)

Mac and Cheese!

December the 5th is was my mom's birthday! She went to lunch with a friend and so I made mac and

cheese for lunch for my siblings and I. It was really steamy, and I had to keep blowing it to keep the

bubbles down. Turns out I had forgot to turn the fan above our stove on. Anyway, it all turned

out fine and the mac and cheese was good!

♥Snow!!♥

Just Another Thing I'm Thankful for.........Snow! Our first snow in the 2012-13 winter!!! And....I've finally had an opportunity to try Pic Monkey! I agree.... IT'S AWESOME! I'm 'addicted' after just one picture!

Trail to Heaven...And the other part of our Thanksgiving

.....Sometimes the way is tough....

....Sometimes it's like coasting down a hill...

......But once you get there, it's soooo worth it!

But...the real story:

We went on a hike up to the Turkey Hill windmills with our family for Thanksgiving. The adults had been there before, a while ago. But some things had been changed, we went up the wrong way...that's what the first picture is. We came to a grassy hill...the second picture. Finally we got to the top! And saw the beautiful sunset! We met up with some people at the top and found out then we had gone the wrong way...No wonder it was so rough!! But it gave me the idea for this post.
Berries
Windmill
The landfill! (framed!)
Cousins! (♥Me, Amber, and my sister Erika♥)

PS I missed my thankful things again:( But we were at our other cousins in Ohio for Thanksgiving! I'll get it next Friday!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! My family still has two Thanksgiving meals yet but I thought I'd blog about some of my Thanksgiving doings so far.

For Thanksgiving we did Anne Voscamp's Thanksgiving Tree where there are leaves (to cut out) with verses on them and you do one a day and write your thankful thing/things for that day. You hang your leaves on a branch/tree.

Our Tree
The Label :)

At Bright Lights on Saturday we finished the process of making centerpieces for the Thankgiving meal at Water Street Rescue Mission. A part of the centerpiece was a paper pumpkin or two. I made an extra one to bring home!

My Pumpkin!

A good day biking = The sun on your face, but with a breeze blowing through your hair. Going over tiny bumps with pleasure, and the awesome feeling of conquering the hill! Seeing your shadow and other shadows. Saying HI when other bikers pass! Gorging your eyes on the beauty...The fields, the trees, the nice houses. Seeing the sun set.

Camping!

My other thankful thing:(Sorry this time my thankful things our devided into two posts)

On Friday night my family and I camped out in our back yard. We had a campfire and slept in the tent. It was really cold (at least my feet were really cold) but if you asked my sister or brother they would say it wasn't cold.
Hot dogs
Smores!
My dad and sister snuggling
Velvet, our cat, licking her lips!
This is how high our campfire got!

That Pet Place/Bowling/Thankful list

I know I missed my thankful list friday! So these are my thankful things! (Along with my post that is coming soon about our campout friday night)

I didn't have my camera along on the fieldtrip so I don't have pictures:(. But I thought I might post about it anyway. On Friday we went to a pet store. The tour guide showed us around and got out some pets.
Animals I saw/touched:
~Fish (Are you kidding? I wouldn't stick my hand in the fish tanks:)
I saw some very colorful fish!
~Ferret
I love ferrets! They are so cute! Not the white ones, just the brownish greyish white ones:)
~Guinea Pig
~Hairless Rat (disgusting but smart)
~Snakes
~Scorpian (can you guess? i didn't touch this:)
~Dog(didn't touch this)
~Cat(didn't touch this)
~Birds (didn't touch these either)
They were so beautiful, especially one that had red, blue, yellow, green and white on it!

After that we went bowling. My high score was 95! and I got a strike and a couple spares! I was happy!

I'm not sure what day I took this picture but this is a shadow on the wall in our house that is from our hanging lights that I thought was really cool!

Other news this week is that I got a mother's helper job! I'm really enjoying it!

Three Black Swans

Black Swans:
Events that are hugely important, rare and unpredictable, and explainable only after the fact.
This is a really good book, I definitely recommend it! You can look on youtube for a summary, if you type in the authors name and the book title. (How do you put a web address on so you can just click on it? Do you just type it regular? Someone please tell me:)).
I know how now! Click here to see the summary!

Hurricane Sandy

I am thankful that hurricane Sandy did not hit us hard. It's scary to look at all the pictures in New York. Here are some pictures I took during the storm:
These our the last flowers before the storm (this picture doesn't show near there full beauty:( )
This is actually a triple reflection. It was a picture taken into a window reflecting a lamp that was reflected in another window. I love how mystic it looks.
This is the same picture except with flash. Here you can see the rain drops on the window better.
I did not try to make this look like anything in particular. I was playing around with pictures of my flashlight (it was out ready for Sandy) shining on my dresser. This was just a cool angled picture. What does it look like to you? Let me know in the comments! My dad said it looked like a moon shining on the earth. And I think it looks like that also. It's amazing how just playing around with a flashlight and camera make such cool pictures.
I have an angel pin that I was also playing around with. I was doing shadows mostly. I love the angle in the picture above, along with the lighting (again my flashlight:))
Can you see the angel shadow?
There are leaves all over the ground outside! That last couple days I was really restless but........
I'm glad that I had my flashlight out during hurricane Sandy to enjoy taking pictures with:)!

Saturday, October 27, 2012

The other night my family had a great devotions together. We read some verses and then lit candles in a dark room and prayed.

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matt. 5:14

Hawk Mountain!

On a Sunday afternoon we went with our grandparents to Hawk Mountain so we could hike and observe the majestic birds.
Other animals/bugs we saw include one snake, one thousand legger, a walking stick, and several slow moving stink bugs.
The view from the top! I know the top one is foggy looking but it was zoomed in so you can see the fields and woods better.

Gorgeous leaves!

My family and grandparents!

"For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains
and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and
all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."
Isaiah 55:12 (NIV)
