New England Trip! (part 2)

Part 2 of our trip was in Maine! I fell in love with Maine at first sight. :) On the way to our second campsite we stopped at a lighthouse called Cape Neddick and ate lunch and put our feet in the water.
We only were in Maine for one full day but we got to hike in Acadia and see some cool things.

Typical Maine shoreline...no wonder they need so many lighthouses! Actually, a fun fact about the lighthouses is that they would be different colors and have different blinking patterns so that sailors would know which lighthouse they were seeing and could then know where they were.

So many shells and barnacles along the shore!

We drove up Cadillac Mountain because we didn't have time to hike up. We got up there just in time because after I got a couple decent pictures we watched the fog blow in and it was all white! This panorama is overlooking the Bar Harbor area. We did decide then to hike down the mountain so mom drove around to the parking lot to pick us up when we got down there, but the rest of us hiked down. I love this close up I got on the way down! You can't see this beauty unless you get up close, otherwise it looks kind of like a wilted pink dot.

We also hiked a trail called Ladder trail, but there were only three ladders and the rest were steep, uneven stone steps.

To finish off our time in Acadia we walked across the Bar Harbor sandbar at low tide to Bar Island. After we ate lunch and stopped in some shops for souvenir shopping we drove by and it was all covered up where we had walked!

It was sad to leave Maine so soon but we were off to our final campsite and one of the reasons this trip got planned in the first place.
